Twenty-five young Indian HR leaders presented with the People Matters’ Are You In The List? Awards at a gala event

Gurgaon, 24 January 2013:

The 25 winners of People Matters’ Are You In The List? Awards 2012 were unveiled at a spectacular Awards ceremony at Gurgaon’s Crowne Plaza on Thursday, January 24, 2013.

The gala event saw the who’s who of India’s HR fraternity come together to honour the brightest of emerging leadership talent. The evening’s welcome address was delivered by Ester Martinez, Managing Editor, People Matters and Richard Wellins, Senior Vice President, DDI. This was followed by a five minute film on the rigorous selection process and what it took to make it to the coveted list of 25. Manish Choudhary, MD, Pitney Bowes Software (India) presented the CEO's view on the future of HR.

The eminent cricket commentator, Harsha Bhogle, entertained the gathering as the special guest at the event. The Awards ceremony was attended by over 200 seasoned HR veterans. N. S. Rajan, Partner & Global Leader - People & Organization Practice, Ernst & Young, delivered the valedictory note.

  Aishwarya Datta

A MBA in HR and Marketing and a BA in Psychology and Social Work, both from Lucknow University, Aishwarya is Manager, HR at ICICI Lombard GIC Ltd., which she joined in 2008. She believes that HR should play the role of an employee champion, maintaining a balance between the organizational and human aspect.

 
  Anita Bhatia

Anita is passionate about her role as Service Delivery Leader, HR at American Express India because not only does she get to influence people and leaders, she also gets the opportunity to drive organizational culture and values through the process. She holds a MBA from SCMHRD and a BA from PPN College, Kanpur. She joined American Express in 2008.

 
  Avinash Kohli

Avinash holds a Masters in HR and Organisational Development from the Delhi School of Economics and a B. Tech in Electronics and Communication from Rohilkhand University. He has been with GE India since 2007, and is presently HR Manager. He gets immense personal satisfaction from weaving the cultural fabric of an organization.

 
  Avirup Mukherjee

A student at School of Inspired Leadership, Avirup brings with him more than six years of experience at WNS and Maersk Global Service Centre. He believes that leadership is an art and HR can borrow ideas and principles from disciplines like Marketing and Operations to attract, motivate, and gauge employees.

 
  Dhruv Desai

Dhruv is Head (Senior VP, HR and Corporate Services) at Angel Broking Pvt Ltd. Dhruv is an MBA from Narsee Monjee (where he is currently pursuing a PhD), a graduate of AMP from ISB, and a Black Belt in Six Sigma. Engaging people to achieve their best is what makes him passionate about HR.

 
  Diana Mirza

Diana joined Hindustan Unilever Ltd as HR Business Partner (ESIIC) in January 2013. She brings with her over 5 years of experience from Glaxo Smithkline Consumer Health Care, a company she joined as a Management Trainee in 2007. An MBA in HR from SIBM Pune, Diana believes that an HR professional has the wonderful opportunity to create customer delight at an individual and as well as organizational level.

 
  Girish Kohli

An HR Consultant with Mercer since 2008, Girish is an engineer, and an MBA in marketing and HR from Narsee Monjee, Mumbai. Girish believes that since employees and customers are people, value for the organization comes from people and has to go to them. HR’s job, he says, is to see how best this can be achieved.

 
  Hema Rengaswamy

Hema is passionate about her role as Senior HR Relationship Manager in Standard Chartered Scope International because it gives her an opportunity to wear multiple hats, think from different stakeholders’ perspectives, execute strategies, and challenge existing ways. She holds an MBA from NIT Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirapalli.

 
  Indu Kapoor

Indu was at Alcatel Lucent for 7 years before she joined EXL Services Ltd in 2011, where she is Senior AVP HR. She holds a PG Diploma in HRM from YMCA Delhi, and has studied Industrial relations and Personnel Management from Delhi University. She is passionate about HR because it forces her to question herself before she questions others.

 
  Nidhi Sharma

Nidhi is Associate Director HR, Ernst and Young India, a company she joined in 2004. She holds a Masters in Personnel Management from SIBM Pune, and a BBS from College of Business Studies, Delhi University. She is passionate about developing next generation leaders who can seize market opportunities, inspire people, and deliver value to clients.

 
Parjit Bhatia   Parjit Bhatia

Parjit joined Max Health Care in 2006 and is Senior Manager HR. A graduate of IIM Lucknow’s Executive Programme in HRM, he also holds an MBA in HR from IMI Brussels, and a PGDBA in HR from IIPM. He is motivated by the potential of an HR manager to not only be the gatekeeper but also the driver for meeting organizational growth.

 
  Prachee Sonchal

Prachee believes that job satisfaction and passion for her work as HR Development Manager at TATA Services Ltd come from helping her organization confront the business challenges that it faces. An MPhil and MBA from Pune University, she was with TATA Sons from 2004 to 2012.

 
  Rahul Kandhal

Rahul joined GSK Consumer Healthcare as a management trainee in 2009 and is presently Regional HR Manager (North). An MBA from MDI, Gurgaon, he holds that an important goal of HR is to sensitize every employee to the fact that the outcomes of daily tasks and decisions have ramifications on a universe of stakeholders that is much larger than direct business relationships.

 
  Rakhi Chauhan

Rakhi is HR Business Partner at Mphasis, a company she joined in 2008. She holds a Masters in Personnel Management from Neville Wadia Institute of Management Studies and Research, Pune. From being an avid hockey player, she has learnt that we evolve as leaders when we learn from our mistakes and accept that failure simply charts a better path to a more successful future.

 
  Rashmi Sharma

Consultant at Aon Hewitt, Rashmi holds a PGDM in HR and Systems from Xaviers Institute of Management, Bhuvaneshwar, and a Bachelors in Information Technology from Delhi University. To be in a position to impact a large number of people in several ways excites her as an HR professional. She joined Aon Hewitt in 2010.

 
  Reju Mathew

Reju believes that HR is an underestimated role which is constantly questioned regarding its value. He is convinced that HR can be a great value-add if done right and wants to prove this through his work. An electronics engineer from Nitte, Mangalore, he holds a PG Diploma in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations from XLRI, Jamshedpur, and is Manager, Talent Management at ITC Infotech.

 
  Sanjana Vaidya

Sanjana heads the Strategic Services Unit HR at Zensar Technologies, and has been with Zensar since 2005. She has 11 years of experience in the ITES industry, and stood first in her batch in SIBM, from where she received a post graduate diploma in HR.

 
  Saurabh Nigam

Vice President HR at Beroe Inc., which he joined in 2010, Saurabh is an engineer and holds a PG Diploma in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations from XLRI, Jamshedpur. He has set up HR functions from scratch in both small and mid-sized organizations. He holds that an important function of the HR practitioner is to manage the expectations of the various stakeholders of the organization.

 
  Saurabh Kalra

Saurabh joined Makemytrip.com in 2009 and is presently Head, Talent Acquisition (India, SE Asia and UAE). A BBA from Bhartiya Vidyapeeth University, he holds a Masters in HR from Pune University. Understanding people and their behaviour is his passion and he believes that employee needs tend to be the same in all industries, and they just need to be addressed differently.

 
  Shikha Braria

Shikha holds an MBA from Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies, and a B.Sc in Biochemistry from Venkateshwara College, Delhi University. She joined American Express India in 2011, and is Service Delivery Leader, HR. She is convinced that HR is the backbone of operations and is therefore a strong partner towards its success.

 
  Sujal Patwardhan

Associate Vice President HR, Ambit Holdings Pvt Ltd, Sujal joined the company in 2009. She holds both an MBA in HR and a Bachelors of Commerce from Pune University. The opportunity and authority to influence and steer organizational focus and industry practices to create a culture of development and coaching is what keeps her excited about her role and career.

 
  Sumit Neogi

Sumit is a Participant in Reliance Industries Limited’s Accelerated Leadership Programme (RALP) since 2011. He was with Aon Hewitt for four years prior to joining RIL. An engineer from REC Bhopal and a graduate of the PG Diploma Programme in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations from XLRI, Jamshedpur, Sumit is passionate about developing employee capability to improve organizational productivity.

 
  Suraksha Subramaniam

Suraksha is Assistant Manager HR at Mphasis. A graduate of M. S. Ramaiah College of Engineering and Mt. Carmel Institute of Management, she feels that there can be no better time for one to be in HR than now, when HR is being viewed as a source of competitive advantage and a strategic partner engaged in creating a climate of trust.

 
  Tahseen Wahdat Wassan

Tahseen is Senior Manager - Learning & OD Corporate Human Resources, Essar Group. He joined the Essar Group in 2008. Tahseen holds a Masters in Public Administration from IGNOU, a PG Diploma in HR from Narsee Monjee, and a Bachelors degree in Mass Media from Rizvi College, Mumbai University. He believes that great organizations are built over small conversations.

 
  Vishal Gupta

Vishal is Assistant Professor, HRM at IIM Calcutta. He was with ST Microelectronics Pvt Ltd before joining the Fellow Programme in Management at IIM Lucknow. An engineer from BITS Pilani, Vishal feels that HR is one job where you can do a lot, in terms of contributing to organizational decision-making, fostering a high performance work culture, and making the lives of employees better.
